Tools for Pelvic Pain

Let’s talk pelvic pain tools!

When people have pelvic pain we approach treatment from many aspects. We work on posture and positioning, stretches and strengthening, calming down the nervous system, discuss changes to behaviors, as well as refer to a talk therapist. Among some of the options for behavior modification may be positional changes or stretches.

Wands-

These are used to target specific muscles. People can use this for trigger point release in the anterior or posterior pelvic floor. I also suggest this for perineal massage, when pregnant, to reduce tearing.

Dilators-

These are used to stretch muscles and work really well with improving the length of the superficial layers of muscle but they can get to deeper muscles as well. I also like them for desensitization.

OhNuts-

These are great when you have pain with deeper penetration. Great if you have endo, have recently had a pelvic or abdominal surgery, or even just a larger partner. They are ribbed and pleasurable for both partners.

These are great tools to improve pelvic pain. What I recommend depends on the person, what is realistic for their life, and their symptoms. If you have pain with intimacy, seek out a pelvic PT to tailor a program for you.

Ok so tell me! Do you know what any of these are? All of them? I’m going to post videos about them soon!
